Environmental implications of N-shaped environmental Kuznets curve for E7 countries

چکیده
The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis is of great importance to understanding the relationship between economic activity and degradation. Given current wave climate change crisis traced rising pollution from activities, it has become important investigate impact expansion on environment especially in emerging-7 countries that are responsible for a large amount global activity. This study investigates N-shaped EKC E-7 using data spanning period 1995–2018. employs use PMG-ARDL estimator heterogeneous causality tests establish long run short direction respectively regarding variables interest. According empirical results, long-run results fail confirm presence an emerging 7 but rather confirms existence inverted U-shaped countries. While renewable energy non-renewable have positive significant with CO2 emissions, show there no expansion, energy, emissions. Causality showed bi-directional GDP- GDP-squared uni-directional emissions GDP-cubed, suggests increased mitigate pollutant

cointegration Classical regression analysis assumes that the error term in a regression is normally and independently distributed. An extreme violation of this condition is when the error term is a random walk. Such a regression is termed a spurious regression and the results are not reliable. It usually indicates that a required variable with random walk behavior has been omitted from the mode...
متن کاملThe Environmental Kuznets Curve:
1. Introduction The environmental Kuznets curve is a hypothesized relationship between various indicators of environmental degradation and income per capita. In the early stages of economic growth degradation and pollution increase, but beyond some level of income per capita (which will vary for different indicators) the trend reverses, so that at high-income levels economic growth leads to env...
متن کاملConfronting the Environmental Kuznets Curve
T he environmental Kuznets curve posits an inverted-U relationship between pollution and economic development. Kuznets’s name was apparently attached to the curve by Grossman and Krueger (1993), who noted its resemblance to Kuznets’s inverted-U relationship between income inequality and development. In the first stage of industrialization, pollution in the environmental Kuznets curve world grow...
متن کاملThe N-shaped environmental Kuznets curve: an empirical evaluation using a panel quantile regression approach
We evaluate the N-shaped environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) using panel quantile regression analysis. We investigate the relationship between CO2 emissions and GDP per capita for 74 countries over the period of 1994-2012. We include additional explanatory variables, such as renewable energy consumption, technological development, trade, and institutional quality. We find evidence for the N-shape...
